AI Trends in 2025
As with many other sectors, AI has already made an impact within AV. Every article we have seen so far has cited AI as being one of the major trends for the AV sector in 2025. In this article we explain what is meant by AI, the three types and the areas we feel it will most impact within the AV sector.
What is AI?
AI stands for Artificial Intelligence and refers to the development of computer systems trained on the analysis and identification of patterns within huge amounts of information. This enables them to carry out tasks which would normally be reliant on human input and intelligence. This includes predicting outcomes and actions, problem-solving, learning and improving and language comprehension and translation.
The Three Types of AI
Machine Learning (ML): where the system is focussed on analysing patterns and developing algorithms to make predictions without explicit programs or commands. Useful for building management and maintenance.
Deep Learning: (DL): this uses layers of networks to analyse and assess mountains of data. It’s used in applications like image and speech recognition. Useful for meetings, conferences, events, building management and wayfinding.
Natural Language Processing (NLP): Enables machines to understand and respond to human language. Useful for chatbots, meetings and wayfinding services.
Main Areas of Impact
Conferences and Meetings
For meeting rooms and conference spaces, AI-powered video conferencing systems can automatically and intelligently adjust camera angles, focus and zoom and the room lighting. The room lighting adjustments can include the tone of the light, with warmer tones being used for meetings later in the day in line with our circadian rhythm. The AI in microphones can be used to optimise the audio quality by adjusting sound levels based on the number of participants, the room’s layout and ambient noise.
These intelligent, automatic adjustments not only make the meeting experience more engaging and professional, they save time for the presenters and hosts who can focus on the meeting content and delivery. At some point AI will even offer the autonomous scheduling of meetings based on participants’ availability, room capacity, and equipment requirements. AI used within caption solutions will offer more accurate live captions and real-time meeting summaries, which benefit all meeting participants and making them accessible to those with hearing loss.
Automation and Building Management
Use of AI within automation and resource allocation is becoming a necessary part of building management systems. AI’s advanced analytics and predictive capabilities enable businesses to identify usage patterns, uncover emerging trends and predict future use patterns. The incorporation of AI means operations can be more efficiently streamlined, space and resource usage optimised, and costs reduced. It should also improve staff satisfaction as it will ensure there is always enough resource available.
AI will help companies forecast and plan ahead more effectively by offering a prediction of future resource needs. This will improve resource use and reduce waste and cost.
Predictive Maintenance
AI-powered diagnostics can be used to monitor systems and equipment, round the clock. As well as diagnostics, the AI can predict failures before they occur allowing for remedial action to be taken before there is an issue. This reduces system downtime, improves reliability and prolongs the life of the equipment, which is much more sustainable.
Events
To enhance events, AI can be used to adjust lighting based on audience demographic, mood, activity, or time of day. Audio can be adjusted automatically via AI too, allowing for changes in ambient noise, number of participants and acoustics. AI offers the possibility of greater personalisation for events, with each participant able to enjoy a bespoke and optimised experience.
Digital Signage
AI algorithms can analyse viewer demographics, footfall, content interactions and feedback to enable the delivery of tailored content in real-time which resonates with visitors. Perfect for hospitality, corporate and education environments.
